HOPELESS ESCALATION PROTEST
Saturday, Dec. 5 @ 12pm
Flagstaff City Hall Lawn

Barack Obama benefitted from widespread anti-war sentiment when he won
the 2008 presidential election. Yet, he launched an escalation of the
war in Afghanistan soon after taking office. In February 2009, Obama
ordered an additional 17,000 combat troops to Afghanistan, more than
doubling the size of the U.S. occupation.

On Tuesday, December 1, Obama announced to send 30,000 additional
troops to Afghanistan. This recent deployment will raise the level of
U.S. troops in Afghanistan to more than 100,000.  Ironically, this
announcement came less than 2 months after Obama was awarded the Nobel
Peace Prize.

Flagstaff community members have planned to respond to the troop surge
and we invite you to join us in protest on Saturday, December 5th at
12pm on the Flagstaff City Hall Lawn.

If you are unable to make it at 12pm, please join Women In Black at
4pm on the City Hall Lawn for their weekly anti-war vigil.

From 12 to 2pm, Food Not Bombs Flagstaff will also join us so plan on
having lunch!
